DOH bares ‘most dangerous’ fireworks areas

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) identified on Saturday the “most dangerous” areas in Metro Manila that had the most number of fireworks injuries.

The list of “most dangerous” areas in the metropolis in terms of fireworks-related injuries based on the agency’s 2010 to 2012 reports was released through Twitter by DOH Assistant Secretary Eric Tayag.

“Malabon remains safer. No barangay (villages) in [the] list of most dangerous,” Tayag said over Twitter.

He said it was the same in the case of Caloocan, Makati, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pateros, San Juan and Taguig.

The list is part of the DOH’s “Aksyon Paputok Injury Reduction (APIR)” campaign.

“Active fireworks users up by 8 percent this year compared to 2012,” Tayag added.
