Signal No. 2 up in 6 Northern Luzon areas

MANILA, Philippines – Signal No. 2 was raised in several areas in northern Luzon as tropical storm “Vinta” slightly intensified Wednesday afternoon, the state weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the following areas were placed under storm signals:

Moderate to heavy rains were seen within the 500 kilometer diameter of the storm.
Residents in areas under storm signals were alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides, Pagasa said.
Sea travel is risky over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon, Pagasa said.
The provinces of Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga and Cagayan including Babuyan and Calayan Group of Islands will experience stormy weather with rough to very rough seas, it also said.
Ilocos Region, the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and the provinces of Aurora, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija and Batanes will have rains and gusty winds with moderate to rough seas.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Visayas will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over the rest of Northern and Central Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to northwest with slight to moderate seas.
