Broken-hearted man tries to commit suicide

/ 04:06 AM August 20, 2013

A broken-hearted man tried to take his life by stabbing himself in the neck on Sunday night in Quezon City.

Danilo Lee Jr., 26, is now out of danger after his supposed suicide attempt at his house in Barangay (village) San Roque, Murphy, Cubao. Case investigator SPO1 Victor Baquedqued said the victim, a waiter, was still confined at Quirino Memorial Medical Center for a lone stab wound.

Lee tried to kill himself right after his girlfriend broke off with him on Sunday night, Baquedqued added. The incident happened at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the victim’s house on 18th Avenue while he was having drinks with some friends and relatives.

Baquedqued said the victim was drunk when his lover, a certain Tintin, called him up to tell him she was ending their relationship. Police learned that Lee later on took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed himself in the neck. His companions were alarmed when they saw him staggering out of the house, a knife jutting out of his neck. Lee’s family told the police that the victim had previously slashed his wrists or stood in the path of speeding vehicles whenever he was drunk and beset with problems.—Julie M. Aurelio
