Army officer found dead inside Nueva Ecija camp

MANILA, Philippines – An Army officer of the Special Forces was found dead at a military camp in Nueva Ecija on Wednesday night, the military said.

Major Eddie Valde was found lifeless inside his room by his roommate Captain Jomel David at the officers’ headquarters of the Special Forces Regiment Airborne at Fort Magsaysay past 9 p.m., Army spokesperson Colonel Randolph Cabangbang told INQUIRER.net.

He added that Valde was alone in his room when David heard a gunshot and found him dead.

Valde was found with a gunshot on his chest, Cabangbang said, adding that the incident has no indication of a foul play and was “accidental.”

A .45 caliber pistol, his service firearm, was found beside him.
