Bohol town inks deal for solar power project

MAYOR Wilson Pajo and Vice Mayor Wilfredo Benante of Pilar town, Bohol signed an agreement with SGY Intertrade last June for the implementation of solar energy project in the town.

The SGY Intertrade, which is affiliated with Malaysian funds facilitator Wan Abdul Rahim Kamil, also tied up with a foreign supplier and contractor for the project.

Last Aug. 4, SGY managing director Marino Llorente and director Marivic Lacorte signed a contract with Shinsung Solar Energy Co. Ltd. represented by managing director Hyunjong Kim and senior manager Young-Min Kim.

Shinsung is a Korean company engaged in solar cell business.

Prior to the contract signing, the team from Shinsung, together with Kowintec Green Energy Institute director Young Oh Ho and technical manager Youngjin Oh, also from Korea, conducted a two-day site inspection and visit to Bohol Electric Company (Boheco) and a series of meetings and discussions on Aug. 2 and agreed to recommend for the building of a solar power farm with a maximum capacity output of 50 megawatts.

The Korean groups were led by Moon Gil Jong.

The Kowintec Green Energy Institute also signed an agreement with the general contractor of the project represented by Clovis Llorente and Architect Gilfeig Jose Llorente.

Shinsun ang Kowintec requested the two engineers from SGY to undergo training in Korea on technology transfer in preparation for the implementation of the project. The Pilar project is a completely renewable resource that uses the sun as power source.

Compared to relying on oil, dependence on the sun for power and energy is environment friendly and gives tremendous savings.
