Power back in parts of metro, nearby areas after brief brownout
MANILA, Philippines – The power outage that hit Metro Manila and nearby areas Tuesday night was restored within almost an hour, Meralco posted on Twitter.
“The emergency power interruption that occurred at 6:34 p.m. due to power supply deficiency was restored at 7:28 p.m.,” Meralco said.
Meralco said that those still experiencing power outage may call 16211 and 631-11-11, or text mobile numbers 0920-971-6211or 0917-551-6211.
Caloocan City, Las Pinas, Quezon City, Pasig, Manila, parts of Laguna, San Juan, Bulacan and Ilocos Sur, Meralco franchise areas, were reported initially affected by the power outage at 6:34 p.m. after the Pagbilao-Tayabas Lines 1 and 2 tripped, causing a drop of 1,000 megawatts from the grid although the cause has yet to be determined, the NGCP said.
“NGCP is focusing on restoration of the affected power lines and will issue updates on the power situation as information is made available,” it also said.
