Crucial game for CIT-U and USC today

THE San Marino Corned Tuna-Cebu Institute of Technology Wildcats and the Cebu Landmasters-University of San Carlos Warriors battle for the third seed and the right to face the lowest-ranked team in the tournament in a one-game playoff today in the Enervon-Cesafi Partner’s Cup at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Wildcats and the Warriors found themselves tied with identical records after the end of the elimination round last weekend after finishing with 5-5 (win-loss) slates. The two squads split their season series with USC winning over CIT-U, 71-68, in their first round meeting, before the latter avenged that loss with a, 90-83 victory in the second round.
The winner of today’s match earns the right to battle the Raphael’s Sports Bar-University of San Jose-Recoletos, the sixth-seed of the competition after finishing the elims with a 1-9 mark. The loser on the other hand, gets to face the Lion Tiger-University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers which gained the fifth seed after ending up with a 3-6 record.
Already advancing to the semifinal round are the tournament’s top seeds, the league-leading and undefeated Prime Asia-University of the Visayas Green Lancers and the second-running Gaisano Capital South-University of Cebu Webmasters. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
