Village chief killed in roadside bombing
COTABATO CITY, Philippines – A village chief was killed while his son was wounded when a roadside improvised bomb exploded in a village in Guindulungan in Maguindanao on Thursday morning.
Senior Superintendent Rodelio Jocson, Maguindanao police chief, said Barangay (village) Macasampen chair Sanlindatu Rajamuda died while being treated in a hospital here following the blast.
The victims were about to board a vehicle when an improvised device exploded at the roadside in Macasampen.
Midpantao Midtimbang, former vice governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and United Nationalist Alliance candidate for Guindulungan mayor, said the bomb attack was politically motivated.
Midtimbang hopes to replace his son Gadzali, who is UNA’s bet for a seat in the legislative assembly in the ARMM. He said Rajamuda was a supporter.
