Man killed, baby critical in QC car crash
A man was killed while three others were injured, including a three-month-old girl, after their car smashed into the flyover railings on Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City shortly after midnight Saturday.
Police identified the fatality as Glenn Awayan, 37, a freelance photographer from Marikina City.
Senior Insp. Erlito Renegin of the Quezon City Police District said the victim, his live-in partner Florida Ferrer, and their daughter Tiara were aboard a Toyota Corolla (UTM-659) then being driven by Richard Tandoc, also a freelance photographer from Valle Verde, Pasig City.
Awayan was rushed by rescuers to the nearby Quirino Memorial Medical Center, where he was declared dead on arrival. Ferrer, Tiarra and Tandoc were treated for injuries, with the baby still in critical condition at press time.
The car was passing through the southbound lane of Katipunan, with Awayan in the front passenger seat and Ferrer and her daughter in the back seat, when it lost control on the approach to the flyover, Renegin said. Julie M. Aurelio
