THE BORACAY Rum Waves kept their flickering hopes for the playoffs alive as they downed the Café France Bakers, 62-58, in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup yesterday at the JCSGO Gym in Quezon City.

Roider Cabrera exploded for nine of his 15 points in the fourth period that towed his team to its fourth win in a row and back into contention for a berth in the quarterfinals, after starting the season with five straight losses.

Cabrera’s three-point shot with three minutes left in the fourth gave Boracay Rum its biggest lead of the game and his two freethrows with 7.2 remaining in the period sealed the win for the Waves after Bakers pulled to within two.
