3 PBA teams to play in Sinulog Cup set Jan. 30
EXCITING basketball action awaits Cebuano basketball fans when three PBA squads invade the city for the Sinulog Cup basketball tournament set for Jan. 30 at the Cebu Coliseum.
Leading the list are crowd darlings Barangay Ginebra Kings, who will be in Cebu as part of their preparations for the import-laden PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The Kings will be coming in with their talented roster bannered by the reigning league MVP Mark “The Spark” Caguioa, former MVP Jayjay Helterbrand and Jones Cup hero LA Tenorio. They will be reinforced by import Herbert Hill, who played for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA.
Joining Ginebra in this tournament will be the Petron Blaze Boosters, featuring the league’s top draft pick Cebuano June Mar Fajardo.
Petron also boasts of arguably the import with the most credentials, former Knicks and Nuggets forward Renaldo Balkman.
The Alaska Aces, which has sensational rookie Calvin “The Beast” Abueva and Cebuano wingman Dondon Hontiveros, will also be in town. Completing the roster of squads will be the hosts M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Niños./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
