Bohol village chief held for drugs

The head of Barangay (village) Poblacion in Buenavista town was detained after he was caught possessing illegal drugs worth P920,000 in a raid Friday night.

Alexander Mata, 45, told policemen that he had worked as a middleman in illegal drug transactions. “Times are hard. I have been sending children to school,” Mata told reporters.

Supt. Paul Labra, chief of Regional Intelligence Division of Police Regional Office in Western Visayas, said Mata’s area of distribution included Bohol and some parts of Cebu. Chito O. Aragon, Inquirer Visayas
