Jeepney passenger with ‘shabu’ nabbed

POLICE arrested a male jeepney passenger who was caught carrying a pack of suspected shabu in a checkpoint in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

The apprehension happened in M. Logarta Street last Saturday night.

Police said Avelino Espinosa, 34, was one of the male passengers who were asked to disembark during a checkpoint headed by Insp. Ramil Morpos.

PO1 Jerome Lendio allegedly saw Espinosa take something from his pocket and tried to hide it in his seat.

PO1 Lendio stopped Espinosa and checked the object wrapped in a tissue paper.

Police said they found  a pack containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu inside the tissue paper.

Espinosa of barangay Awihaw, Toledo City admitted that he bought the shabu in barangay Pasil, Cebu City, said PO2 Gilbert Igot, desk officer of the Subangdaku police./CORRESPONDENT JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
