CEBU City south district Rep. Tomas Osmeña yesterday claimed he received a text message asking him to report to the Liberal Party headquarters to receive the Certificate of Nomination for his Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK).

Despite this, Mayor Michael Rama, also a member of the Liberal Party, expressed optimism that his group, Team Rama will be getting the administration Liberal Party’s (LP) nomination.

The mayor claims to be a loyal and cooperative member of the party, attending party gatherings and paying his party dues.

LP has yet to announce whom they will support between Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kagawasan and Team Rama.

The south district congressman however said that even if they don’t get the LP endorsement, they are ready to file their Certificates of Candidacies (COC).

The filing of the COC with Commission on Election for the 2013 elections will be on Oct. 1 – 5 this year.

Aside from preparing the paper works, Osmeña said his group is now consolidating their political organization in the grassroots.

Members of the BO-PK members have been seen hand shaking with people in the barangays lately.

Osmeña said in case they don’t get the LP endorsement, they will file their COCs as BO-PK-Independent.

He added that in an automated election, party alliance was not necessary because there was no more need to secure a copy of the election return. Election results will immediately be transmitted to the Comelec head office.

“The basic principle of BO-PK is that we are not loyal to a national party. Our loyalty is to the people of Cebu City. We are not subject to any national party discipline,’ he said.
