Semifinal-bound Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and the Barangay Ginebra Kings look to improve their standings going into the next round as they play each other at the close of the elimination round of the 36th PBA Governors’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Painters and the Kings are tied at fourth place with identical 4-3 (win-loss) records. Although they are already assured of a spot in the semis, the they still need every win they can get as the teams’ elimination-round records will be carried over to the semis.

The other semifinalists are the grand slam-seeking Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters (6-2), Alaska Aces (5-3), Petron Blaze Boosters (5-3), and B-Meg Llamados (4-4).

The Kings will be parading new recruit KG Canaleta, whom they acquired from the Air21 Express in exchange for the oft-traded Willie Miller.

In the first game, eliminated teams Powerade Tigers and the Meralco Bolts collide with the two squads looking to end their campaigns on a winning note.

The Tigers, the Bolts and the Express are already out of contention.

Powerade and Meralco both have 3-4 slates. The Express bowed out without winning a single win in eight tries.

Meanwhile, the Texters are reportedly replacing import Maurice Baker with Scottie Reynolds.
