Crime investigation a cinch for 302 cops
Crime investigation should now be a cinch for these policemen.
After a month-long intensive training, a total of 302 police personnel from different Metro Manila districts are now fully equipped to deal with the complex art of crime investigation.
Of the policemen who took part in the training program, 50 are from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), 51 from the Northern Police District; 50 from the Eastern Police District; 47 from the Manila Police District; 50 from the Southern Police District; and 54 from the Quezon City Police District.
240 hours of training
NCRPO director Chief Superintendent Alan Purisima said the refresher course, which took 240 hours to complete, tackled criminal laws, character and ethical development, investigative procedures and court practices, including both theory and practical exercises.
“The course covered an adequate and relevant investigation program designed to provide desired learning competencies and investigative proficiency among police investigators,” Purisima said.
Competent and highly qualified instructors who are recognized experts in their fields conducted the training.
They include scene of the crime operatives, prosecutors, judges and law teachers from the University of the Philippines.
Competent, effective
“It is with great pride and honor that we present the 302 new police-investigators who underwent a tedious training on criminal investigation. We are certain that they will fill the gap of having competent and effective field investigators who will be of great help in resolving cases that we handle,” Purisima said.
He stressed that the training was aimed at raising the standards of the investigative capability of the policemen in Metro Manila.
Before the opening of the program, Purisima noted that over the years of review and evaluation, they have noticed that there had been deficiencies and other shortcomings in the previous investigation training programs that they conducted.
According to Purisima, the latest criminal investigation course should result in “knowledgeable and result-oriented investigators among our ranks so cases [would] be resolved immediately.”
The training program kicked off last month at the NCRPO headquarters at Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City.
