Tropical depression Goring exits Philippines, but still triggers rains
MANILA, Philippines—Tropical depression Goring moved out of the Philippines en route to Taiwan on Sunday, but continued to boost the effects of the southwest monsoon, carrying rain showers all over Luzon and the Visayas, the weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued its last bulletin on Goring on Sunday as the weather system was spotted west northwest of the Philippines as of 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Pacing northward at 10 kilometers per hour, Goring is forecast to be some 600 km north northwest of Basco, Batanes by Monday morning, or around 170 km northwest of Taipei. The weather system maintained its strength at 55 kph.
The exiting weather system, however, continued to boost the southwest monsoon, bringing scattered rain showers over the western seaboard in Luzon and the Visayas.
“Tropical Depression Goring will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon, which will bring occasional rains in Luzon and Visayas becoming frequent over the western section which may trigger flashfloods and landslides,” Pagasa said.
A low pressure area spotted off Mindanao had dissipated as of Sunday morning, the weather bureau added.
