MANILA, Philippines – There may be no monitored potential cyclone outside the Philippine area of responsibility, but an inter-tropical convergence zone affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will bring rains in parts of the country, the state weather bureau said Monday.

An ITCZ is a merge of winds from different directions, which is also a breeding ground for a low pressure area.

Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over the Mindoro Provinces, Palawan and Western Visayas which may trigger flashfloods and landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the Southeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from Southwest to Southeast over the rest of the country. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate, Pagasa said.
