3 injured as truck carrying seedlings crashes on Baguio road

BAGUIO CITY — Three people were injured when the brakes of a delivery truck carrying seedlings failed, causing it to crash into a concrete barrier along Asin Road in Baguio City on Wednesday morning.
Police said the accident occurred at around 6:55 a.m. along the circumferential road in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Kilometer 3, Asin Road. It was reported to Police Station 9 at about 7:10 a.m.
Initial investigation showed that an Isuzu Forward wing van (plate number CAD 6833) driven by Rony Aquino, 45, of Candaba, Pampanga, was descending toward Km. 3 Asin Road from Marcos Highway, where it allegedly experienced a mechanical failure at a sharp downhill curve.

Authorities said the truck, which was transporting seedlings, reportedly lost its brakes before crashing into a concrete barrier.
Aquino and two passengers, identified as Joseph Tangcangco Francisco, 17, and a man known only by the alias “Boyet,” sustained injuries in the accident.
The victims were taken to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.
Police said the truck was totally wrecked as a result of the crash. /coa
