MANILA, Philippines — With the Holy Week and summer vacations nearing, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) warned of a possible rise in crimes such as theft and snatching during the summer holiday season.

Police Col. Julius Sagandoy, chief district directorial staff of QCPD, in a forum in Quezon City, announced Tuesday that police presence will be heightened not only in transport hubs but also in residential areas, as many residents are expected to leave their homes unattended.

“We are appealing to residential areas to secure their personal belongings,” Sagandoy said.

Sagandoy added that they will also coordinate with barangay officials and security agencies among subdivisions to secure the residential areas.

“If we notice any suspicious activities happening, we have our hotline, of course, 911, and our local here in Quezon City, 112 for police assistance,” Sagandoy said mostly in Filipino. /jpv
