Magnitude 4.8 earthquake strikes Occidental Mindoro – Phivolcs

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.8 earthquake jolted Occidental Mindoro on Thursday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The state seismologist said the tectonic temblor struck at 9:53 a.m., with its epicenter detected west of Palauan town.
Phivolcs also said that the quake registered a depth of focus of 10 kilometers (km).

Intensity II was felt in Tagaytay City, Cavite, while varying instrumental intensities were recorded in the following areas:

Phivolcs said the earthquake is not expected to cause damage or aftershocks.
Also on Thursday, a magnitude 4.0 temblor hit waters off Davao Oriental.
The quake occurred at 9:04 a.m., and its epicenter was located east of Baganga town. It had a depth of focus of 21 km. This earthquake is likewise not anticipated to result in damage to properties or aftershocks.
