MANILA, Philippines — ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro will run for senator in the 2025 elections.

In a video clip provided by her office on Thursday, Castro was seen speaking at the 42nd anniversary of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) on Wednesday, when she announced that she was accepting the request for her to run for senator.

“We want, through the Makabayan [bloc], to have alternative candidates for the election because we do not feel that the political spat between the ruling class is enough  Marcos versus Duterte and other opposition candidates, but we want to push for true change, a Makabayan alternative to those running for senator,” she said in Filipino.

“With that, I am accepting the challenge given by the Alliance of Concerned Teachers to our people,” she added.
