Most Filipinos feel no changes in their quality of life – SWS

Most or 45 percent of Filipinos continue to feel no changes in their quality of life compared to the previous year, a poll from the Social Weather Survey (SWS) showed.

MANILA, Philippines — Most or 45 percent of Filipinos continue to feel no changes in their quality of life compared to the previous year, a poll from the Social Weather Survey (SWS) showed.

While the majority of Filipinos did not feel any changes, the SWS survey conducted from March 21 to 25, showed that 30 percent said their quality of life got better compared to last year’s.

Meanwhile, 25 percent of Filipinos said it got worse.

This, said SWS, results in a Net Gainers score of +5 — percent Gainers or those who felt improvement minus percent Losers or those who felt their quality of life got worse.

SWS classifies this Net Gainers score as “high” as it is within the range of +1 to +9.

Same as December 2023

All these figures are exactly the same as the numbers recorded in December 2023, said the SWS.

“The March 2024 Net Gainer score was similar to +5 (30 percent Gainers, 25 percent Losers) in December 2023,” said SWS.

“It was 7 points above the fair -2 in September 2023 but 6 points below the very high +11 in June 2023,” it added.

In terms of Net Gainers score per area, Balance Luzon had a significant increase from high to very high or from +6 to +14.

However, it fell from very high to high in Metro Manila, from +16 to +9; high to fair in Visayas, from +4 to -2; and in Mindanao from -3 to -8, still at fair.

The SWS surveyed a total of 1,500 adults — 600 in Balance Luzon and 300 each in Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao — through in-person interviews.

The survey had sampling error margins of ±2.5 percent for national percentages, ±4.0 percent for Balance Luzon, and ±5.7 percent each for Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
