While the majority of the respondents said that their quality of life stayed the same from a year ago, 30 percent said that their quality of life became better, which the SWS termed “Gainers.” The remaining 25 percent said it got worse, which the SWS termed “Losers.”

The poll firm added that, in turn, the Net Gainers score for December 2023 was +5, which it classified as “high,” and was more than the -2 Net Gainers score in September 2023.

According to the SWS, Net Gainers increased in Metro Manila, Visayas, and Luzon outside Metro Manila, or Balance Luzon, but decreased in Mindanao, compared to September 2023.

Net Gainers also increased across people of varying levels of education, such as non-elementary graduates, elementary graduates, junior high school graduates, and college graduates.

The SWS surveyed 1,200 adults, 300 each from Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

“The sampling error margins are ±2.8% for national percentages, and ±5.7% each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao,” it added.
