EU’s ‘Euro Village’ set for launch in Pasig City

The European Union (EU) will unveil its first-ever “dynamic” Euro Village in Pasig City

MANILA, Philippines — The European Union (EU) will unveil its first-ever “dynamic” Euro Village in the Capital Commons Park, Pasig City from May 27-28.

“The essence of the Euro Village is to make these vibrant and diverse cultures accessible to the reach of Filipinos and to open up markets and trade opportunities,” said Dr. Ana Isabel Sánchez Ruiz, Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines.

Celebrating the May 9 anniversary of the EU’s founding, the Euro Village will showcase products and services from Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Romania, and Finland.

The village will also feature Ukraine’s participation as an expression of solidarity, according to a press release by the delegation.

The EU partnered with various organizations such as the Alliance Française de Manille, Goethe Institut, Instituto Cervantes Manila, and the Philippine-Italian Association for its language center, and the Manila String Machine for musical performances.

Green Space, Scholars of Sustenance Philippines, and EcoNest have also partnered with the EU to “ensure that this initiative promotes a sustainable lifestyle and reduction of greenhouse emissions.”

The Euro Village will open to the public for free from 4 p.m. to 12 midnight.
