27% of SIM cards registered so far

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. says text complaints received by the NTC have dropped by 93.3% since the implementation of the SIM Card Registration law.

Only 45.82 million subscriber identity module (SIM) cards or 27.12 percent out of the 170 million SIM cards in the country have been registered so far, less than a month before the April 26 deadline, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said Friday.

Undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo, spokesperson for the DICT, said during the Laging Handa briefing that Smart Communications had recorded 23.43 million registrants. —Nestor Corrales
