Motorcycle back-rider dead in Batangas mishap
LUCENA CITY — An 18-year-old male died early Saturday after the motorbike he was riding driven by a 16-year-old boy slid on the road in San Nicolas town in Batangas province.
The Batangas police reported that the motorcycle driven by the boy without driving permit, and with two pillion riders on board, slid at 2:10 a.m. while traversing a road in Barangay Balete.
One of the back-riders, Emmanuel Fruelda, 18, was thrown off the vehicle, landed on the pavement and suffered a fatal head injury.
The three riders were taken to the Batangas Provincial Hospital in Lemery town, but Fruelda died along the way.
The driver and the other back-rider, also a minor, were still confined in the hospital for further treatment. The report did not say what caused the accident as investigation continued.
