2 motorcycle riders dead in separate Batangas road mishaps
LUCENA CITY – Two motorcycle riders died on Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 12 and 13) in separate road accidents in Batangas province, police reports said.
Batangas police reported that motorcyclist Theresa Galingan, 48, lost control of her vehicle due to potholes while negotiating a portion of the Nasugbu town national highway in Barangay (village) Bilaran around 1:20 a.m. Sunday.
The wayward motorbike consequently hit another motorcycle running ahead and driven by Jommel Dioso.
Both motorcycle drivers sustained injuries and were taken to the nearest hospital. Galingan died while receiving treatment at the hospital due to serious head and body injuries.
In Calaca town, a ten-wheeler-truck driven by Reynaldo Lirag accidentally hit the motorcycle running ahead of him that was driven by Romeo Villanueva, 42, along the highway of Barangay Lumbang Calzada around 6:40 a.m. on Saturday.

Article continues after this advertisementThe police said the concerned parties in both incidents were open to amicable settlements.
The report did not state whether or not the fatalities in both incidents were wearing crash helmets for protection as mandated by the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
