Abandoned hot logs seized in Romblon town

Abandoned lumber in Romblon province were confiscated on December 23, according to a report from the Mimaropa police office.

CITY OF CALAPAN — Abandoned lumber in Sta. Maria town, Romblon were confiscated Friday, December 23, according to a report from the Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police office.

Personnel from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) coordinated with Sta. Maria police station about the anti-illegal logging operation in Barangay Concepcion Norte.

The DENR team then went to the site and recovered 21.32 board feet of paper tree on Friday, December 23.

Authorities have yet to determine the owner of the confiscated logs.

The lumber had been turned over and placed in the custody of DENR for safekeeping. The case was also referred to DENR for appropriate disposition, police said.
