Octa: Kalinga COVID-19 positivity rate jumps from 20.8% to 57.9%

MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 positivity rate in Kalinga province increased to 57.9 percent as of December 10 which way above the five percent limit set by the World Health Organization (WHO), independent pandemic monitor Octa Research Group said Monday.

Octa fellow Guido David, in a social media update said the positivity rate in Kalinga went up from 20.8 percent as of December 3 to 57.9 percent on December 10.

Positivity rate refers to individuals whose tests showed they are infected of COVID-19. To say that the COVID-19 spread is under control, a positivity rate of 5 percent or lower should be maintained.

Meanwhile, positivity rate at the National Capital Region went up from 12.4 percent last December 3 to 14.4 percent as of December 10.

  • Albay (from 23.7 percent to 24.7 percent)
  • Batangas (from 5.2 percent to 9.2 percent)
  • Bulacan (6.8 percent to 8.3 percent)
  • Cagayan (21.4 percent to 26.3 percent)
  • Camarines Sur (from 38.8 percent to 39.2 percent)
  • Cavite (10.5 percent to 12.8 percent)
  • Isabela (38.6 percento to 40.5 percent)
  • La Union (20.4 percent to 22.42 percent
  • Mountain Province (11 percent to 16.7 percent)
  • Nueva Ecija (39.1 percent to 49 percent)
  • Pampanga (10.6 percent to 13.3 percent)
  • Quezon (10.8 percent to 12.8 percent)
  • Rizal (19.7 percent to 23 percent)
  • Zambales (from 10.7 percent to 9.2 percent)

Meanwhile, Guido said positivity rates in the following areas have decreased: 

  • Benguet (from 22.6 percent to 20.9 percent)
  • Ilocos Norte (from 11.1 percent to 10.3 percent)
  • Laguna (from 19.2 percent to 16.7 percent)
  • Tarlac (from 25.3 percent to 23.6 percent)
