Tricycle driver shot dead in Lipa City

LUCENA CITY – A 70-year-old tricycle driver was shot and killed in a drinking session in Lipa City in Batangas province on Saturday, November 26, police report said Sunday, November 27.

Alfredo Mercado was part of a drinking session at the tricycle terminal in Barangay (village) Sabang around 8 p.m. when the unidentified male assailant, armed with a handgun, suddenly appeared and shot the victim in his head, the Batangas police reported.

The gunman, described as wearing a gray jacket, cap, and denim pants, fled after the shooting.

Mercado died while being taken to San Antonio Medical Center due to a gunshot wound on the back of his head.
