The Department of Education National Capital Region (DepEd-NCR) urged the public to stop spreading unverified information on social media following a bomb threat that resulted in the suspension of classes in a Taguig school on Monday. A certain “Sofia Smith” was reported to have caused fear and panic among personnel, students and parents of EM’s Signal Village Elementary School and Signal Village National High School in Taguig City after posting violent threats on the Facebook page of Taguig City. “Papatayin ko lahat ng mga estudyante sa taguig signal village taguig city,” read one of the comments. “Kagaya ng nangyare sa thailand humanda kayo magpapasabog ako dyan sa signal papaptyin ko kayong lahat,” the Facebook user said. DepEd NCR said police conducted a thorough search within the school vicinity and declared the schools “safe and bomb-free.”
