5 nabbed in Bicol drug buy-busts

LEGAZPI CITY — Five suspected drug traders were arrested in separate buy-bust operations Sunday in the Bicol region, police said.

In Sorsogon City in Sorsogon province, Onofre Vargas Jr., 46, was arrested at around 7:45 p.m. in Barangay Cabarbuhan, Bacon District.

Lieutenant Colonel Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, reported that Vargas was a street-level peddler in the area.

Confiscated was a sachet of “shabu” (crystal meth) worth P2,040.

In Irosin town, Niño Conde, Mark Joshua Aragon, both 24, and Walter Berba, 25, were arrested at 2:20 p.m. in Barangay Carriedo.

Eleven grams of shabu worth P74,800 and two grams of marijuana leaves worth P240 were recovered from the suspects.

In Naga City in Camarines Sur, Levi Ronquillo Jr., 32, was arrested at 7:25 p.m. after selling illegal drugs to an undercover agent in Barangay Abella.

Senior Master Sergeant Tobias Bongon, Naga City police spokesperson, said they recovered 1.8 grams of shabu worth P12,240.

The suspects face charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. INQ
