MANILA, Philippines – A total of 78 truckloads of trash (196 metric tons) were collected from the Manila North Cemetery and the Manila South Cemetery during the “undas” season from October 28 to November 2, the City of Manila local government unit said on Thursday.

The total volume of garbage collected during the celebration of Undas 2022 from October 28 to November 2, 2022 has increased as compared with the garbage collected last Undas 2019,” Manila’s Department of Public Services reported.

This increase can be attributed to the additional garbage generated due to aftermath of Typhoon Paeng like fallen trees, leaves, etc.” the report added.

On All Saints’ Day last Tuesday alone, a combined estimate of 425,000 individuals visited both cemeteries, the Manila Public Information Office said.
