MANILA, Philippines – Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected on Thursday in parts of the Visayas and Mindanao due to the trough or extension of a low pressure area (LPA), according to the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that rain is expected in Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, the Caraga, Davao and Soccsksargen regions in Mindanao, Bohol, Lanao del Sur, and Maguindanao provinces.

(Expect cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms. Because of the continued effects of the rain brought by Paeng, it is possible that the grounds are still saturated in the aforementioned areas, so there is a high chance of landslides and flash floods).

The LPA is currently 420 kilometers east of General Santos City, said Pagasa.
