Over 3,000 Central Luzon residents still in evacuation sites
SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — At least 806 families, or 3,601 individuals, remained inside various evacuation sites in Central Luzon more than a week after Super Typhoon Karding (international name: Noru) left a trail of destruction, according to government data.
In its latest report Tuesday (Oct. 4), the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council 3 (RDRRMC 3), said most of these displaced villagers were from Zambales, Bulacan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Pampanga provinces.
Karding’s onslaught had affected 271,497 families, or 976,969 individuals, in the region since it barreled through Luzon on Sept. 25.
The super typhoon left at least P2.6-billion worth of damage to agriculture, mostly to rice plants and high-value crops.
As of Tuesday, 13 localities in the region continued to experience power interruptions due to damaged power lines, the RDRRMC 3 said. Most of these areas are in Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan. INQ
