Only 30,183 of more than 255,000 PUVs get copy of new fare matrix – LTFRB
MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Tuesday said that only 30,183 of the 256,261 public utility vehicles (PUVs) have so far secured a copy of the new fare matrix.
The latest fare was implemented on Monday, October 3, but PUVs without a displayed revised fare matrix cannot enforce the adjustment as it is among the LTFRB’s requirements for application of the fare hike.
Of the PUVs that have acquired a copy of the matrix, 17,496 are public utility jeepneys, 1,263 are public utility buses, and 5,344 are provincial buses as of October 4.
Only 6,053 regular taxi units while 27 airport taxi units have obtained a copy of the latest fare matrix, the LTFRB added.
Meanwhile, Transportation Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) is no longer required to apply for a copy of the new fare matrix because the adjustment is already expected to be displayed in their apps.
The LTFRB said that since September 23, they opened their offices from Monday to Saturday to receive new fare matrix/guide requests but many PUVs still chose to obtain a copy of it a day after the fare increase took effect.
