P123,000 shabu, marijuana seized from drug suspect

MANILA, Philippines — Police seized P123,000 worth of ‘shabu’ (crystal meth) and marijuana from a drug suspect in a buy-bust operation in Makati City on Thursday. Southern Police District Director Kirby John Brion Kraft said that drug peddler Mark Anthony Malinao, 24, was arrested in Barangay East Rembo at about 8:30 p.m. after selling P500 worth of marijuana to an agent who posed as buyer. Seized from the suspect were five pieces of plastic sachets with 125 grams of marijuana valued at P15,000, one sachet with 16 grams of shabu valued at P108,800, and the buy bust money. The suspect is currently detained and is facing charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. —Abby Boiser and Angel Yabut
