House ratifies SIM card registration, barangay-SK polls suspension bills
MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives has ratified the bicameral conference committee reports on bills requiring the registration of subscriber identity module (SIM) cards and suspending the December 2022 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
During Wednesday’s session, the House approved, via viva voce, the bicameral version of House Bill No. 14 and Senate Bill No. 1310, requiring phone users to register their SIM cards before using them.
The same goes for House Bill No. 4673 and Senate Bill No. 1306, which would suspend the December 2022 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan polls.
With the Senate and the House ratifying the bicameral reports, the measures would then be forwarded to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for his signature.
The Senate ratified the bicameral report on both bills earlier.
