Preemptive evacuations in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon due to Karding —NDRRMC
MANILA, Philippines — Preventive evacuations are underway in Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon due to Super Typhoon Karding, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
In its latest report, the NDRRMC said that as of 2 pm, a total of 97 families or 336 persons in Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon were preemptively evacuated.
Of the total, 11 people or 36 persons and 86 families or 300 persons were preemptively evacuated.
Meanwhile, the NDRRMC added that residents from 20 villages in the Polillo Islands are also being evacuated.
Karding was spotted before noon some 115 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon or 76 kilometers east of Polillo Islands, packing maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center with gustiness of up to 240 kph.
