3 dead in Cavite, Laguna motorcycle mishaps

LUCENA CITY — Three motorcycle riders died in separate road accidents Monday in Cavite and Laguna.

The Region 4A police reported on Tuesday, Sept. 13, that at around 6 a.m. Ruel Cortez, 41, was driving his motorcycle with his wife, Glenda, 35, as back rider, along the Aguinaldo highway in Barangay Lalaan I, in Silang, Cavite, when their vehicle hit the rear of a car.

The car was driven by Lee Seungjae, a Korean national residing in the locality.

The couple was thrown off the motorcycle and suffered injuries. They were taken to the Silang Specialist Medical Center, but died at 6:56 a.m. while being treated.

The report did not say if the police arrested Lee.

An investigation is ongoing.

In Barangay Nueva, San Pedro City, Laguna, the police reported that the motorcycle driven by Reneboy Leonor, 41, slid at 6:15 a.m. on the wet and slippery pavement of San Isidro bridge.

Leonor suffered injuries and was taken to the Jose Amante Hospital in the city but died an hour later while being treated.
