PH logs 3,758 new COVID cases; active tally climbs to 36,115
MANILA, Philippines — An additional 3,758 fresh infections of COVID-19 were registered by the Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday, with the country’s active cases increasing to 36,115.
The new cases also raised the country’s total caseload to 3,844,708 nationwide, with 3,747,372 recoveries and 61,221 deaths, based on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker on its website.
The new cases are still lower than the average daily cases recorded from August 8 to August 14 at 4,001, but significantly higher than those recorded on Wednesday at 2,892.
In the latest data from the COVID-19 tracker, Metro Manila still had the highest number of infections per region in the last two weeks with 14,799 cases, followed by Calabarzon at 9,147, then by Central Luzon at 5,027.
Quezon City, meanwhile, is still at the top of the list of areas with the most reported cases in the last two weeks at 3,323, followed by Cavite, which recorded 3,062 and Laguna at 2,655.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, the tracker also showed that 24,358 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Wednesday, reflecting the number of recorded infections on Friday.
The DOH earlier noted that COVID-19 cases nationwide have begun “plateauing” but warned the public not to get complacent as it may only be due to the number of laboratory tests nationwide.
