Manila Archdiocese reshuffle set in November

Archdiocese of Manila embarks on ‘penitential walk’ to pray for May polls

MANILA, Philippines — The Archdiocese of Manila is set to go through a reshuffle in November, according to the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) news agency.

According to the CBCP in its report on Wednesday, Fr. Jerome Secillano of the archdiocese’s public affairs ministry said that the new clergy assignments will take effect in November but will be announced by October.

“But some were already reassigned because of the priests who were expected to be in the seminary before the opening of classes,” Fr. Jerome Secillano of the archdiocese’s public affairs ministry said.

The archdiocese’s current vicar general and moderator curiae, Msgr. Jose Clemente Ignacio also confirmed the said reshuffle.

The last reshuffling of assignments in the archdiocese took place in 2015 during Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle’s term as archbishop.

Cardinal Jose Advincula maintained the status quo of priests’ assignments “in order that the administration of the Archdiocese of Manila and the pastoral services rendered to the people of God are ensured,” after he replaced Tagle in 2021.

His latest appointment was Fr. Regie Malicdem who he named the archdiocese’s spokesperson.

Currently, there are around 220 priests under the archdiocese, which covers 86 parishes in the cities of Manila, Pasay, Makati, Mandaluyong, and San Juan.
