Mimaropa police probe slay of gov’t worker in Calapan City

Cops probe gun attack Calapan

CITY OF CALAPAN, Oriental Mindoro – The Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan (Mimaropa) police has started an investigation into the killing of a government employee on July 14 in this city.

Andres Abdon Jr., 61, an employee at the provincial agriculture department, was riding his motorcycle and was traveling through the Strong Republic Nautical Highway in Barangay (village) Sta. Rita when he was shot by unidentified gunmen. Abdon died on the spot.

Abdon was on his way home to his residence in Barangay (village) Poblacion in San Teodoro town when he was attacked, police said.

The suspects escaped and are now being tracked by police.

“We condemn the said act of lawlessness and I have ordered all concerned police units to intensify their efforts towards the arrest of the criminals behind the incident,” said Police Brigadier General Sidney Sultan Hernia, Mimaropa police chief.
