PH logs 2,560 new COVID-19 infections — DOH

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday recorded 2,560 new infections of COVID-19, pushing the tally of current active cases to 19,873.

Sunday was the fourth consecutive day that the DOH has logged more than 2,000 daily infections.

The DOH website’s COVID-19 tracker showed that the new infections also brought the country’s caseload to 3,733,101 nationwide. Of this, recoveries are at 3,652,587 and deaths at 60,641.

These new recorded cases, however, were slightly lower than the number of infections recorded on Saturday which was at 2,578, but still higher than the average daily cases recorded from July 4 to 10 at 1,467.

Meanwhile, 19,822 individuals were recorded to have been tested for COVID-19 on Saturday, July 16.

The DOH COVID-19 trackers also showed that Metro Manila remains the region with the most number of infections in the last two weeks with 9,713 cases. Metro Manila is followed by Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) with 5,420, and Western Visayas with 2,261.

Quezon City topped the list of areas with the most reported cases of COVID-19 over the last two weeks with 1,886. Quezon City is followed by the province of Cavite with 1,827 and Manila with 1,316.
