Easterlies, LPA to bring rain in Bicol Region, Caraga, Western Visayas
MANILA, Philippines — The easterlies and a low-pressure area (LPA) spotted east of Eastern Samar are forecast to bring rain over parts of the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga on Thursday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
According to Pagasa weather specialist Ana Clauren in a weather report late Wednesday afternoon, the LPA was last spotted 170 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.
Clauren, however, said the LPA isn’t expected to escalate into a storm and may dissipate in the next 48 hours.
“Para sa magiging lagay ng ulan bukas, dahil sa easterlies magkakaroon ng mauulap na kalangitan na may kalat-kalat na pag-ulan, pagkidlat, pagkulog ang bahagi ng Bicol region,” said Clauren.
(Tomorrow, due to the easterlies, there will be cloudy skies with scattered rain, lightning and thunder in parts of the Bicol region.)

The easterlies and the LPA will likewise cause rain in Eastern Visayas and Caraga, while the rest of Visayas and Mindanao will experience generally fair weather with chances of rain in the afternoon and evening.
Despite the presence of an LPA and the prevailing easterlies, Clauren said that Pagasa raised no gale warning over the country’s seaboards, where only slight to moderate sea conditions are expected throughout the country’s surrounding coasts.
