MANILA, Philippines — Only the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) remains at moderate risk for COVID-19 transmission, while the rest of the country is at low risk, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said on Monday during the taped week “Talk to the People” briefing with President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Our country remains under the low-risk classification. Only CAR is under the moderate risk classification,” Duque said.

Health care utilization rates are also at low risk in all regions, except in the Davao Region.

Earlier, Duque said that the worst of the Omicron surge might be over for the country after the continued decline in the number of new infections.

As of Feb. 21, there were 58,657 active infections of COVID-19 nationwide, with 55,763 deaths out of the 3,653,526 confirmed cases.
