Of Monday’s 1,427 reported cases, 1,389 or 97 percent occurred within the past two weeks from Feb. 8 to Feb. 21.

“The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were NCR (318 or 23%), Region 4-A (168 or 12%) and Region 6 (159 or 11%),” the DOH said.

The DOH also recorded 74 additional COVID-related fatalities, 66 of which occurred this month. Eight occurred in January, four in October last year and one last September “due to late encoding of death information to COVIDKaya.”

“This issue is currently being coordinated with the Epidemiology and Surveillance Units to ensure information is up to date,” the DOH said.

It noted that 104 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 98 are recoveries.

“Moreover, 52 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH added.

The DOH said all five laboratories failed to submit their respective data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).

“Based on data in the last 14 days, the 5 labs contribute, on average, 0.1% of samples tested and 0.3% of positive individuals,” it noted.
