Crime rate down by 18.4% in Q1 2025 – PNP
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded an 18.4-percent crime rate decrease nationwide in the first quarter of the year compared to the last quarter of 2024.
In a statement on Wednesday, the PNP said focus crime incidents dropped from 8,950 from November 3, 2024, to January 11, 2025, to 7,301 from January 12 to March 22, 2025.
Focus crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, motor vehicle and motorcycle theft.
The PNP noted that murder cases declined from 1,535 to 1,243; homicide cases from 1,341 to 1,021, and physical injury cases from 1,002 to 663 during the periods given.

Further, the police force said crime rates declined the most in the Caraga Region by 1.05 percentage points, followed by Calabarzon (0.76 percentage points) and Central Visayas (0.69 percentage points)
The PNP, however, noted that the crime rate in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao increased by 0.69 percentage points.
