COVID-19 cases decline in 9 Metro Manila cities — OCTA

MANILA, Philippines — COVID-19 cases are declining in nine cities in Metro Manila, independent analytics group OCTA Research reported on Sunday.

Citing data from the Department of Health, OCTA Research fellow Guido David said that of the 1,712 cases logged nationwide on Sunday, 369 were from the National Capital Region.

The nine cities that saw a decline in its daily tally on Sunday were:

Quezon City – from 67 to 45 new cases

Parañaque – from 41 to 28 new cases

Makati – from 39 to 33 new cases

Taguig – from 26 to 22 new cases

Pasay – from 23 to 20 new cases

Las Piñas – from 29 to 18 new cases

Caloocan – from 22 to 17 new cases

Navotas – from 2 to 1 new case

San Juan – from 7 to 1 new case

Meanwhile, the following local governments registered an increase in its daily tally:

Manila – from 74 to 100 new cases

Pasig – from 32 to 37 new cases

Mandaluyong – from 9 to 13 new cases

Valenzuela – from 4 to 10 new cases

Muntinlupa – from 6 to 8 new cases

Marikina – from 4 to 6 new cases

Pateros – from 0 to 2 new cases

Malabon, on the other hand, had the same number of new cases on February 19 and 20 at seven.

According to David, Metro Manila’s COVID growth rate slowed down to -33 percent from -38 percent recorded on February 19.

The reproduction number, meanwhile, is at 0.21, slightly higher than February 19’s 0.20.

The ideal reproduction rate is less than one to indicate lesser COVID-19 transmission, health experts say.

Currently, Metro Manila is at low risk for COVID-19, OCTA Research earlier said.
